The wooden Architecture Route
Because Poland‘s geography has featured not only fertile farmland from the Great European plain, it includes many forested and hilly regions which has spawned architecture based on creative carpenters making wooden structures and artists‘ handmade art-work from wood carving. Poland boasts with many wooden monuments throughout the country.
In various parts of Poland you can observe a wide diversity of styles and ornaments characteristic of local carpenters. Malopolska Region (Small Poland Region) has some that should not be missed. During the tour we will visit Lanckorona - an atmospheric 19th century constructed entirely of wood, featuring a 14th century ruins of a castle, and the villa Tadeusz with Mr. Tadeusz, a well-known and eccentric wood-carver who has even made an entire wooden automobile that actually drives. Then we will stop in Wola Radziszowska to admire the 15th century church, to finish our tour in Wygielzow with the opened air museum housing the samples of 19th century village and 15th century church.
This is a truly beautiful and inspiring region of Poland and so very close to Krakow.
